They called here this morning on my business line. It was a young woman. It sounded like a call center in the background with a lot of people. I was not interested and quickly hung up.
According to the December 7th, 2007 HeraldNet article, "ATS NW Inc., also of Lynnwood, collecting for Beni Hassan Shrine Temple
No. 64, Operation Lookout National Center for Missing Youth, Olympus
Lodge 45 Prince Hall Mason and Washington Council of the Blind, gathered
$904,308 and gave 15 percent to charity."
This is compared with other telemarketers that gave 82% and 50%, so be informed that your donations will be going to other things beside the charity that you are donating towards.
It's that time of year again when people are feeling charitible, but
please be careful. Personally I never give out information by phone,
especially financial information. If you really want to donate, then ask them where you can mail a donation, or contact the charity directly to donate. I would also ask them what percentage of the money donated goes to the charities.
